Down & Dirty

Short, but compelling, this Novella offers a glimpse at a brave new, though dangerous, world. Free on Kindle Unlimited.

What is it about?

(Blurb from GoodReads)

Twins. Witches. Hunted.

Witches are dying out. Having children is unheard of. Having twins is impossible. Or so they thought.

When a pair of twins were born 21 years ago with unknown powers, they were hidden away from those who would use them or seek to destroy them.

Now adults and still not knowing anything about their magic, those fears are realized as an unknown force seeks them out. When the twins get a chance to escape, they grab it and run for their lives.

They’ve managed to get out but will they be able to escape the clutches of evil forever? Or will they fail and be pulled back into the very thing they fear?

Note

(This is the beginning of a Reverse Harem. You don’t meet all the men in this one.)

Thoughts on Year of the Twins

Good start

This is an intriguing start to what I hope will be a lengthy series, though this book itself is far from lengthy. While it lacks some detail, and what world building we find is scattered (feels fantasy, but maybe dystopian?) it is still a decent story that culminates in a heartbreaking cliffhanger.

Pros:

  • Interesting concept with the Twins, power and protection.
  • Demons and witches, oh my.
  • The twin connection, or rather, how they interact with each other.

Cons:

  • So short, this is more a novella than a novel.
  • Formatting needs work.
  • Little disjointed and jumpy with the plot.
  • Needs a cover change.

Rating

Pg-13, probably will be R later in the series.

Romantic Dynamic

I have no idea what the harem will eventually contain, this book is just the introduction between the FMC and one MC. So, currently, M/F

My Final Verdict on Year of the Twins

4 out of 5 Stars

This book has promise, though it needs a little work. The foundation for an astounding tale is here, and should be enjoyed. Hopefully, the author will continue this unique RH series. Free on Kindle Unlimited.
