What is it about?
(Blurb from GoodReads)
Her Wish is His Command…
Ashley
Ashley’s life is a mess. Her estranged husband filed for divorce and dropped an even bigger bomb—he’s leaving her for the receptionist.Heartbroken and yeah, a little blind with fury, Ashley ditches work and goes knocking on the door of the city’s dark darling, Dae Blackwell. Someone once told Ashley that Dae had the power to make your deepest desires come true and Ashley is desperate for something other than this pressing hurt.
Dae
As jinn, Dae has spent the last several hundred years striking deals with humans and then twisting their wishes for his own amusement. But now that his grandfather is at Death’s door, for the first time in history, Dae is the one in need of a miracle. When Ashley stumbles into his life looking desperate and adorable, Dae is happy to make a deal with her. Women always bend to his desires and all he needs is one wish. Just one wish to save the patriarch of the Blackwell family. But the more time Dae spends with Ashley, the greater the attraction grows. What is it about this office assistant that makes him ravenous for her body? And why does he keep making excuses to see her?
As their deal nears its end, Dae comes to a startling realization: he’s willing to risk everything he holds dear in order to have the one woman who lights his dark jinn heart on fire.
Thoughts on Three Wishes
I was surprised by this book, but in the best kind of way. When our FMC was first introduced, she has learned that her husband and best friend is not only cheating on her, but wants a divorce, and she’s devastated, not to mention desperate. It was groan worthy, not because I don’t sympathize, but because I read to escape reality and don’t want a FMC who deals with real life drama in real life ways. It’s selfish of me, but true. Yet this FMC, despite feeling all the realistic feelings that go with such a realistic starting point, deals with it in the most unrealistic of ways…. by finding a djinn to get him back. Alright, I’m back on board!
Third person, multiple POV, stand alone within larger series, HEA. Steamy.
Favorite Lines
“Do not let someone else’s lie become your truth” (11%)
Books were an odd sort of belonging. They were meant to be out and on display, but they were also an incredibly intimate possession. (54%)
Pros:
- I started to really like the FMC as the story continued.
- The entire Djinn family!
- Twisting of myths, perfect.
Cons:
- Ok…. so what happens to the ex now? That rush is still out there!
