What is it about?
(Blurb from GoodReads)
When I walked into Grimmstead Academy that first day, I never imagined the horror waiting for me within.
Each and every soul living under its roof is broken and lost, from the stern and serious Lucien to the students. Ian and his smooth overconfidence, Dagen and his anxious paranoia, Payne and his fascination with all things blood, and Koda and his smiles—and of course, who could forget the murderous Bram?
Things are set to become even more twisted and dark. After I find out the truth, everything changes. This place won’t let any of us leave. We are pawns in its bloody, gruesome game.
What does it want? Submission, and giving into it might just be the last thing I do.
In Grimmstead, death is only the beginning.
Note:
Submission is the second book in a planned RH trilogy; there is graphic violence along with steamy scenes. In this book there is also MM, so be warned.
Thoughts on Submission
Gothic delight
This is dark and sweeping, stretching terrifying claws across time and the senses. Things make little sense, but there is a shadowy ambiance that keeps the pages turning. The relationships heat up, though there is still a decided lack of emotional connection between most.
All in all, it’s noir, gothic and creepy….. just what you want for this type of book.
Pros:
- Seriously creepy.
- No one flat out says it, but you get the feeling of myths and legends, the horror kind. Vampires, Jeckle and Hyde, that kind of thing.
- Relationships heat up.
- The Red Room. I kinda love that place.
Cons:
- Things are muddled and confusing.
