Down and Dirty
The House of Durand continues it’s teasing in this third installment of this ongoing sage, upping the ante and increasing the heat step by step. A bit fast, but a good read. Free on Kindle Unlimited.
What is it about?
(Blurb from GoodReads)
Little maids shouldn’t play with the big boys.
Piper dreams of the days when unemployment was her biggest problem. Working for a jerk boss she could handle but working for six sexy vampires? Not so much.
This little maid is going to wish that was all she had to worry about now that her masters’ master has called them home. And daddy dearest wants to meet her.
Dancing around paranormal politics and a crazed vampire set on making Piper his, she’ll be tested in more than just her nerves. Can this little human maid keep her with about her with so many dangers around or will her heart get the best of her?
Thoughts in Protected by The Vampires
I’ve followed this series since I first stumbled upon it months ago.
Read my review of Book 1
Read my review of Book 2
At first, it presents like a naughty little secret, yet it reads like a well fleshed out novel with the highs and lows one has come to expect from this author. A maid and her vampires. Not quite as risqué as it sounds…. though it is getting far steamier as the plot progresses.
Now, bitten and bonded as a humans servant to Antoine Durand in order to protect her from Valentine, Piper is fully enmeshed into this dangerous world. There is no escaping her fate, and honestly… she is not really sure she wants too.
Pros:
- Some action with 3 masters this time around (not together… sadly enough!)
- M/M mentions…. gotta love that in a RH.
- We see the start of the fall out from the bond.
- Marcus… somehow this feels like a HUGE plot point for later installments.
Cons:
- Lack of Character development on her part.
- Rushed and short.
- Little cohesion between characters yet, and this is Book 3!
Perspective
First Person, Multiple POV
Ending Type
Cliffhanger (this is one of the more painful ones of the series)
Rating
NC-17… getting steamy, steamy.
Character Age Range
25+
Verdict

Fast paced continuation of an ongoing series. Well rounded and decent read, if a bit rushed. Free on KU.
