Down & Dirty

This book kicks off a sweeping epic that has captivated PNR fans of all kinds. Refreshing, action packed and free on Kindle Unlimited.

What is it about?

(Blurb from GoodReads)

It was one kiss…
… and it very nearly ended my life.

Secrets are dangerous, and sometimes they can kill.
My secret may not be that bad, but it sure has put a wrench in my high school plans.
I am in love with my best friend.

I know, I know. It’s every teenage girls big confession, but most of them at least have a chance. Cute boy next door and all that.

Not me, I just so happen to have a crush on a guy that is way out of my league.
Ryland LaRue is insanely hot, insanely rich, and way too nice for his own good.

It’s clear I can’t have him, and not just because his evil overlord father hates my guts. My crush on Ryland is not my only secret. I’m hiding something bigger than that. It’s the reason my dad left, and I am pretty sure it’s why his ‘magical’ cult is now following me around.

The only problem? Ryland has a secret too, and his just happens to have all the answers I need.

Which brings us to that kiss…

Thoughts on Kiss of Fire

Good start

This is an older series, but new to me. Though I generally don’t go for books, UF or PNR, where the female main character (or any main characters, for that matter) are so young (16), There is still something compelling about this narrative – enough that I was about to forget her youth, until she acted age appropriate and I found myself impressed with the author, lol! It’s fast, intriguing and fairly unique.

Pros:

  • Interesting World building.
  • Side characters make the story.
  • The metaplot is a bit devastating.

Cons:

  • Ages (just a personal preference)
  • Disjointed at places.

My Final Verdict on Kiss of Fire

4 out of 5 Stars

For a YA novel (and there is NOTHING wrong with YA!) this books hits it out of the park. Action packed and weaving, it crafts the beginning parts of a sweeping saga that introduces new worlds, new monsters – and new rules. Free on Kindle Unlimited.
