Down and Dirty

Fantastic series so far, put this at the top of your TBR list.

Please check out my Review of Book 1, Gypsy Blood, Here!

What is it about?

What’s worse than being outed as a powerful Portocale Gypsy in a town of monsters, while hiding the fact that you are a monster yourself? Accidentally raising a psychotic Alpha Vampire… and forgetting you did it, or why. What’s worse than that? Having said Alpha Vampire punt you smack in the middle of an ancient rivalry to be used as the balm and bondage to heal old wounds – just because he wants his friends back.

While I normally write my own stuff, I HAD to tag on a bit from the official blurb on Goodreads:

…I really don’t know how this stuff keeps happening to me. Life was simpler when it was just me accidentally blowing myself up while trying to create potions and shampoo.

I’ve lived my life in such secrecy that I’ve spent most of it lonely. So lonely, in fact, that my best friend is a delusional ghost. I’d rather focus on her than all the crazy things happening in my life at current. Ever since coming to this town, I’ve had my throat slit by vampires, attracted way too much attention from some powerful alphas, and did a lot of regrettably stupid things because…I’m too gullible for shady monsters.

To them, I’m the fool.
To them, I’m the naive girl in over my head.
To them, I’m the pawn on a worn chessboard, while the seasoned players knock me around.

Meanwhile, I’m still left to figure it all out on my own, because, just like me, no one wants to share their secrets.

Thoughts

Book 2 is somehow even better than book 1, if you can believe it. Still hilarious and down right witty, along with dark and broody in all the right spots. Violet is something amazing, but we still aren’t quite sure what that is yet, though we are starting to gain glimpses of the monster underneath. The alphas are surrounding her, even if they are reluctant to acknowledge the draw – beyond the fact that she is a Portocale gypsy, of course.

She so much more though, and that beast is rising…

Perspective

First Person, Multiple POV

Ending Type

Cliffhanger

Pros:

  • Fast paced and action packed
  • The plot thickens and more details emerge
  • Violet: awesome, awesome, awesome
  • The omegas: what a cute, supportive pack of gals!
  • Well edited
  • Dialogue and scene flow naturally

Cons:

  • -Book 3 is still a few weeks away… 😔🥺 (EDIT – At the time of this publication, Book 3 is just a day away! 1 day!! Tomorrow!!!)

Favorite Line

“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asks. “Seems rather abrupt.” (63% – in reference to a sexual encounter)

Verdict

5 out of 5 Stars

This series just keeps getting better. The action alone would keep me reading, but the mystery, not to mention the building romantic tension, has me hooked. A definite for your TBR list!

Please note, this is a Reverse Harem Novel with sexual scenes and dark humor more suited to older audiences. 18+
