Down and Dirty
SO worth reading! Seriously… read this. Now.
What is it about?
The world in which the Nightmares, otherwise known as Supernaturals, rule, is ripe with corruption and persecution. Z, as part of the Alphabet (yes… really) resistance, is an assassin who spends her days and her nights fighting against the regime and struggling to bring humanity some semblance of light. When a target’s death lands her a rare and precious invitation to The Damning, an event held every 5 years in order to discover the realms most deadly Nightmare, she knows this is the chance of a lifetime – or a sure fire way to die. Get in, win, and kill the Kingdoms heirs… the seven Princes. Just another day for an assassin.
Thoughts:
Katie May caught me again! First with Gangs and Ghosts, and now with Greed….. the woman has talent, I tell you! On the surface, this series looks like it would resemble ‘The Curse of the Gods’ RH series, yet from the first 10 pages, you will quickly realize that there is NOTHING the same in this offering. Z reaches out and smacks you in the face, pushing herself onto the page and crafting the story around herself with a bloody purpose that is slowly becoming clear.
Love, Love, love this book! Seriously, there is humor, fourth wall breaking chuckles, sexual tension, fated yet incredibly reluctant mates, royal intrigue, a deadly competition and friendships most foul. It has everything, and then some.
Perspective:
First Person, Multiple POV.
Ending Type:
Episodic, with series cliffhanger.
Pros:
- VERY well written.
- FUNNY!
- Z… she is a fantastic FMC and carries this tale from start to finish.
- The Princes… I dare you not to fall in love with them, even just a little bit.
- Well edited
- Emotional in a way that doesn’t tear, but bleeds.
Cons:
- Heartbreaking (it’s a con, ok…. I’m still sniffling, so it’s a bloody Con!)
- Book 2 publication date not set yet. (I’m an impatient reader… sue me.)
Favorite Lines:
There were facets of light and darkness in every aspect of nature. (2%)
It wasn’t as if I was afraid of death, per se, but more so of the implications behind it. Where would a person like me go? Certainly not heaven, and I wasn’t ready for a Hell worse than the one I was currently living. (6% – From Z’s thoughts)
I snorted. And then there was me. Blond-haired, blue-eyed, and a few inches over five foot. I looked more likely to cuddle you to death than to strangle you. (17% – From Z’s thoughts.)
Verdict

I highly recommend this book to any fans of the RH genre, Fantasy Romance or Paranormal Fantasy. It’s amazing and will suck you in.
