Down & Dirty

The modern and the paranormal smash into each other in this unusual look at the Reverse Harem genre. Free on Kindle Unlimited.

What is it about?

(Blurb from GoodReads)

Miller College’s Parapsychology Department has a student-run ghost hunting group that’s all the rage on basic cable. The third season is about to begin filming, and the producers want to up the ante. The three macho, pseudoscience brosephs – Quinn, Tyler and Brent – are about to be joined by a very female psychic, Emma Ray.

The team is instantly resentful of her presence on their show, and lead investigator Quinn has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in psychics. They’re going to give Emma the hardest of hard times until they can expose her as a phony.

They’re going to learn that Emma is the real deal, and that it’s not always wise to bully a psychic when you don’t know how many ghosts are in her posse…or exactly what you’ll be facing in the next haunted house.

Note

“Ghosted by You” is a medium-burn Reverse Harem paranormal ghost-hunting adventure. Not suitable for readers under 18 years of age.

Thoughts on Ghosted by You

I love the premise of this novel, the idea of a Ghost Hunting team, led by their own version of Giles, traveling the most haunted places in order to discover the Paranormal. Add in the notion that it’s all filmed and the show is incredibly popular, and you have the set up for an exciting tale.

And it is, for the most part. It stumbled during the execution though, as the presentation is jumbled far too often and there are moments that flit by with little explanation or adequate description. I had issues with that, as well as a a lack of character development – or just plain character connection.

Pros:

  • Decent Idea.
  • The Professor…. I like him.

Cons:

  • No character development.
  • Some things are TOO convenient…
  • Perspective switches during the middle of the page or scene.

Perspective

Third Person, multiple POV

Ending Type

Episodic, pseudo cliff

My Final Verdict on Ghosted by You

Great idea, poor presentation that needs a bit of editing. However, you may love it and it’s Free on Kindle Unlimited.
