What is it about?
(Blurb from GoodReads)
Who knew cages and freaks would set me free?
Growing up in trailer trash hell, the carnival was my only happy memory as a child. I held onto the magic of that memory until I could finally escape. And like Alice down the rabbit hole, I entered a world beyond my wildest dreams. A world with a shiny, colorful exterior, but filled with rot and corruption underneath.
But no matter what these people put me through, I can’t go back to my life before.
The man with the biggest secret is the only one I can trust. He’s dangerous, but he’s safety to me. He’s broken, but he put me back together. I’ll keep his secret. My heart hopes he’ll keep me. But in a hall of mirrors, how do you know what’s real or an illusion?
Every grueling night onstage is building up to a final show: The Wolf Man. Is he real or a hoax? Why do I feel such a pull to find out his truth?
Care to join me on this ride? Step right up.
**Harem of Freaks is a slow-build reverse harem series. The heroine will add to her harem and build multiple relationships as the series continues.**
Thoughts
Great intro to a ‘new to me’ series, though I’ve heard about it plenty. Unique and fresh idea, mixing werewolves and a shady carnival – though the main characters don’t really know they are mingling with real wolves yet. I won’t say more to prevent spoilers, just know that the mystery is building and the characters, though rather young, are fascinating.
Perspective
First Person, multiple POV
Ending Type
Cliffhanger (felt like a serial?)
Rating
R
Pros:
- World building is scarce, but not really needed, as it seems all the normal rules apply.
- Connor….. I think I love him.
- Mel…. I KNOW I love her.
Cons:
- Felt a bit too short, more like a serial than a novel.
- Stop making such a big deal that she’s 18….. but I get it, it’s annoying but felt realistic.
Favorite Line
Death or doughnuts? It wasn’t a hard decision to make. (7%)
Verdict

This was a great introduction book and served well in its enticement to follow the rest of the series. Perfect for fans of circus stories, slow-burn RH and PNR.

Please note: This is a slow burn, slow build Reverse Harem series which may feature intense sexual themes and scenes more suited to an older audience (though in later books, this installment is rather tame and teasing). 18+
