Entrapment

(Hidden Dragon Omegaverse)

by Mercedes Jade
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Fast Burn, Stand Alone Fantasy RH, Omega-Verse
Available on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited

Down & Dirty

This is as hot and dominant as most books in the Omega-Verse are known for, touched with a bit of spine and a childhood trauma that requires a trigger warning (NO DESCRIPTIONS ARE MADE). Free on Kindle Unlimited.

What is it about?

(Blurb from GoodReads)

If you can’t conceal your fire, let it burn.

I’m alone, afraid, and desperate. It’s a terrible combination for an omega, especially one that has caught the attention of the top alphas at school.

I made the mistake of falling for the Boucher twins and their dangerously hot friend, Nik. Then, I ran.

How dangerous? Nik’s dad is an infamous rogue dragon that ran southside. Now that Theo is imprisoned, Nik has inherited his gang. Did I mention that the twins almost became my stepbrothers before my mom died? We had crossed lines that are terribly blurred now.

Dragons. Alphas. Bad.

An unknotted omega on her own, like me, can easily fall prey to their lusts or become victim to the other monsters that prey on innocence.

It’s time for me to turn the hunt around. My heart may still be bleeding from my losses, but I can’t keep hiding. I will use deceit. Entrap them. Make those alphas mine to rule.

Omegas are dragons, too.

Thoughts on Entrapment

I LOVED the idea of a Hidden Omega, and the reasons WHY she remained hidden, even though she lives in a world that caters to her kind. Once that becomes clear, it starts making more sense, though the world itself is still a jumble.

There is a lot to love here, with ideas and basic plot, I just wish it had been put together a bit better. Shelly has a scarred past she is trying to save her sister from, and the Alphas she once called family can help her achieve that goal. That part is phenomenal, but getting from point A to point B, and understanding the journey, is chaotic and often troubling. Honestly, for almost half the book, you really don’t know what is going on – or why.

It also needs a good spit polish in regards to editing, though the errors are not annoying enough to stall the narrative, simply noticeable.

As for the dynamics between the group, it’s an Omega-Verse book, and comes with all the bells and whistles such a genre requires. If you don’t know what Omega-Verse means, look it up BEFORE you read or buy. It’s not bad, just a different kind of kink than some. I am on the fence with the Omega-Verse…. sometimes, with some stories, I love it. Other times, I find it degrading and dismissive. This was more of the former category, though it still bleeds plenty of Alpha vibes along the way.

My Final Verdict on Entrapment

Decent Omega-Verse offering. It touches on Childhood sexual trauma and should be treated with respect as to the trigger warnings it contains – please note, there are no descriptions, but readers still need to be made aware. Needs a bit of editing and some flow smoothing, but overall, a decent Dragon tale that is free on Kindle Unlimited.
