Cruel: Savannah Heirs

by Coralee June & Raven Kennedy
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Contemporary NA Bully Romance

Available on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited

Down and Dirty

A True Bully Romance that borders on Tortuous.

What is it about?

(From Goodreads)

I’ve got a secret.

Savannah, Georgia is full of debutantes and greed. The Heirs own this town. They own me, too.

I don’t know what I did to ruin what we had. But their kindness turned cruel almost a year ago. I was prepared to leave it all behind and start over at a new school. But Rogue Kelly, the king of the Heirs, ruined that.

He doesn’t want me anymore but doesn’t want anyone else to have me either. I know too much to be set free, but not enough to stay.

The Heirs aren’t through with me yet. And I crave their cruelty too much to give up now.

Authors’ Note: This is a bully romance with dark themes that may be triggering for some readers. Please read with caution.(less)

Thoughts

3.5 rounded up

Wow….. what can I say about this book? It’s hard to love and even harder to hate. The writing is impeccable and well edited – the ending is perfect and the underlying romance a thing of beauty.

But everything else? It hurts. There is bully romances and there is this….. ten steps too far and a tango too many. ‘Cruel’ is an appropriate title as the actions of the Savannah Heirs up to about the midway point of the novel are cringe inducing, and even tear worthy. I almost stopped reading multiple times and if it was authored by anyone else, it would have been a DNF (Did not finish) for me.

It was… just too much. Too harsh. Too cruel. No matter the reason, no matter the cause…. it was horrific. And it broke my heart.

Perspective

First person, multiple POV

Ending Type

HEA…. Thank God. That girl needs a good ending to her story.

Steam Level

Blazing Hot – you’ll never look at a Balance Beam the same way again.

Pros:

  • Well written.
  • Well edited.
  • Mystery was decent.

Cons:

  • Romanticizes bullying and abject torture.
  • Portrays that the end justifies the means.
  • FMC needed to get slapped into some self-worth.

Verdict

3.5 out of 5 Stars

I can’t recommend this, but I certainly cannot NOT recommend it – as it is very well written. Maybe thats the problem. It is so well written it makes the actions seem…. normal? Proceed with caution – you may love it.
