Down and Dirty
A fun, though sometimes dry and not fast, read. Intriguing enough to add to your Kindle Queue.
What is it about?
(Blurb from GoodReads)
I wanted the money, but I failed miserably.
Now I’m chained in a prison cell with a half-naked prick.
And a baby dragon that thinks I’m its momma.
And how did I end up here?Well, I really needed the gold.
So I took the mission to steal The Dragon’s egg.The plan was simple:
a) Get to the egg.
b) Grab the egg – very carefully.
c) Run.But the unsolicited happened.
I wasn’t alone when I got there.
The dark-haired prick was awaiting me.
And he wasn’t going to give up his treasure so easily.Fight!
But by the time we stopped squabbling, it was too late.
The egg hatched.
You gotta be kidding me!
Of course, we were caught and thrown into prison.
Thanks to him, I wasn’t able to get away. Now I’m stuck in this cell with a baby dragon and a lunatic who keeps taking his clothes off.
“It’s too hot,” he says.
Yeah, right. How am I going to get out of this one?!

Thoughts on Captured by the Royals
Don’t judge a book by its cover
So…. looking at that cover you start thinking all sorts of naughty delights are to be found? A touch of the taboo or dark fantasy? Not so much.
Oh, there is definitely some touch and love going on, but the bondage and chains? Set them out of your mind and set your heart to a story with a more familial plot than shivery sin. This is set in a land we’ve seen before, with familiar faces and new Magics. Mix a broken soul bond, shadow thieves and a newly hatched dragon queen and you’ve got a tale that fills out far more than the dirty little secret the cover tries to convey.
Pros:
- Surprisingly complex narrative.
- Character development, though fully fleshed, was decent.
- Nicole is badass.
- Nestles well with other books in this series.
- Can be read with no prior series or world experience.
Cons:
- Too many parts dragged or felt superfluous.
- Wish there was MORE emotion when the bond was reformed.
- Unanswered questions.
- Some parts were just plain skim worthy.

Verdict
There were too many dry or mundane sections to rate this book higher. That said, it is still entertaining and the story needs to be told to solidify the world around it. Kinda fun – and Free on KU.
