What is it about?

(Blurb from GoodReads)

One corpse. Several bizarre looking attackers. Some very strange magical powers. And a severe bout of amnesia. Madrona is not having a great week. It’s going to be okay though. All she has to do is find out who she really is, protect a soap star from being attacked by a stalker and work out why so many people seem so afraid of her. Because surely she’s a good person.

Right?

Thoughts on Box of Frogs

Irreverent

There is something wholly silly and somewhat irreverent about this book.

A magical being, who by all accounts is a villain, awakens with amnesia…. next to a headless body. Now what’s a girl to do?

Watching her stumble and reach through the wreckage of her memories and her life is both alarming and sad, though tinged with a heady dose of humor and arrogance. Who IS the Madhatter? And why was she there?

Pros:

  • Funny! Get inner dialogue is hysterical, if cocky.
  • Very, very British. Note the language.
  • Unique!

Cons:

  • A few editing errors.

Favorite Line

The man lying next to me was definitely dead. It wasn’t the glassy white caul on his eyes or even his unnatural stillness that gave it away. It was the fact that his head was entirely detached from his body, as if someone had unscrewed it like a burnt-out light bulb and dropped it casually on the ground. (1%)

Verdict

4 out of 5 Stars

Entertaining and fun, this UF is worth picking up – if you like snarky humor and a heroine with a large helping of arrogance! Free on KU.
