What it’s about…
Lana is one of the Blighted, also known as someone without magic… or at least she was. When a mercenary job goes wrong, Lana suddenly finds herself inundated with magic power so strong it explodes out of her – and somehow bonds to the four handsome and talented men that came to stop her. Now considered one of the ‘Gifted’, Lana must navigate these strange new powers, the political intrigue around her as well as the sudden and unavoidable relationships her magic has forced on them all.
She’s Lana Crow, Badass mercenary… and things couldn’t be worse.
Thoughts:
This is my first time reading this author and I am thrilled to have found her! This book has all the typical elements of a PNR RH novel, yet it still somehow feels fresh and new. Perhaps it’s the way the puzzle pieces are arranged, or the honesty to which Lana approaches being bound to the guys (she’s freaking out!) but it really feels different to other, similar stories.
Like other RH novels that use a trope (can you actually have a typical trope in RH??) Sadie Moss throws these five together with the use of a magical bond – yet it differs a bit because this bond was not fate, and not everyone (or even most everyone) wants it. Oh, one does… but his reasons will make more sense when you read the book. Plus, their initial meeting is just this side of nefarious, or maybe that side of it? Either way, Lana doesn’t exactly start their relationships on the best footing… and for a PNR RH novel, that is fantastic! I love the struggle, the tension! Insta-love is nice and has it’s place, but insta-wtf? is much more entertaining.
Pros:
- Very well written – the way she turns a phrase made my literary heart smile.
- Good editing
- Lana: She’s a badass, and surprisingly human in her reactions
- World building: There’s enough detail to give you the picture without overwhelming you with history
- Humorous dialogue throughout
Cons:
- Didn’t expect it to end where, or when it did
- I would like a bit more back story on Corin, but I think it will come in later books.
Verdict

This book should definitely land on your TBR (To Be Read) pile. It is a great offering to being a promising series, giving just enough background to set the stage and just the right balance of detail to keep you reading.

Please note, this is a Reverse Harem Series (book 1 is tame, as a slow burn) that will feature sexual content more suited to older audiences, 18+.
